The David vs. Goliath Marketing Program


The David vs. Goliath Marketing Program is an innovative campaign designed to allow Owner Operated Retail Business compete in the era of the Big Box Retail Stores like Wal-Mart, Sams Club, Costco, Home Depot and the like.

Surveys and studies have consistently shown that the American Consumer can change their buying habits and start shopping more often with their local Independent Retailers. However, they must have a good reason to change.  Educating Consumers about the harm shopping at the Goliaths does to their local economy and community is not enough.  There needs to be more of an incentive.

That is where the David vs. Goliath Marketing Program comes in.  We have put together the best way to not only help the American Consumer, but to greatly increase the foot traffic for the Davids in a local community.

The David vs. Goliath concept is simple.  If 2 separate, local businesses partnered together and cross-promoted each other to their customers, each could DOUBLE their customer base.

The Shop Locals First Card is the Nations only Multi-Merchant, Multi-Use Gift, Reward and Fundraising Card.  Now a Consumer can purchase ONE card that can be use by ALL Merchants in the Community. This Card can hold 100’s of separate and independent gift, loyalty and reward card programs.  The beauty of this Card is that when 100 to 125 different Merchants combine together to form a local Community, then one store’s customers can receive coupons, specials and discounts at all the other stores within the Community.  It is a cross-promotion bonanza for the members of a Community!  A customer can go on-line at any time and see all the other specials, discounts and reward programs of all the businesses within that Community.  The cross-promotion and viral marketing between participating Merchants within the Community is unlimited and will increase floor traffic far beyond what is feasible with conventional advertising alone. 

A Merchant can easily set what individual rewards, coupons, or referral programs they want to offer by going to their website and following the prompts.  All activity is very easy to see and is changed in real time.

Reward Programs

Bulk Ad buys, Newspaper Inserts, shared Full-Page Advertising and Multi-Merchant direct mail pieces are just a few of the ways our Members can save on their own individual advertising.  Shop Locals First is also able to drastically reduce a Merchant’s normal advertising cost as well as significantly increasing their exposure in a particular market. 
How?  By purchasing advertising in bulk and then sharing the costs among several different advertisers.  It gives the Owner Operator the ability to save on advertising by purchasing their advertising in bulk, much the same way Sam’s Club and Costco buy their products in bulk quantities.
For example, when Shop Locals First places a 4 page insert in a local newspaper, our Clients are able to secure a ¼ page ad for a fraction of the normal cost. We also offer a “Valpak” type of direct mail advertising on a Co-Op Advertising basis as well.

Public Relations

Business articles, features and news reports are actively promoted to inform and educate the Public as to what is happening in their marketplace with the Owner Operated Business.
